QuickCoast operates the ferry service between Mission Beach to Dunk Island ferry service and those who’d like onto Beaver Reef on a small group adventure called “Reef & Island”.
However for land lovers, offer the full day Dunk Island day trip that is not to be missed, especially for hiking or beach exploring.
It wouldnât be a trip to Mission Beach if you didnât spend a day at âDunkâ. or our pristine reef. Covered mostly in national park, the tropical island is a nature loverâs playground with beautiful walking trails and palm-fringed beaches.
From the jetty, make a left and follow the beach until you reach the track signs leading to Muggy Muggy Beach, Mt Kootaloo and onwards to the circuit walk for energetic peoples.
QuickCoast also operates an optional extension to magnificent Beaver Reef for snorkelling with complimentary guided marine eco-safaris with a professional. On the return from the reef there is a 1 hour stopover at Dunk Island for some beach strolling or beach worshipping.
Explore Dunk Island on foot
If youâre up for a hike, set your sights on Mt Kootaloo. The steep 7km-return track takes you through ancient fern forests and ironbark groves, past the rusty remains of a World War II radar station, to the islandâs highest point with pinch-yourself panoramic views of the Family Group of Islands.
On the way back down, hikers can continue to explore the islandâs core along the circuit track (a round trip takes 3-4 hours), passing through the Palm Valley before coming out at Coconut Beach.
If the salty seas are calling your name, follow the track back down to the Muggy Muggy Beach turn-off for a dip and a snorkel.
QuickCoastâs home port is Mission Beach, operating a fast cat ferry service from the Clump Point Marina Facility to Dunk Island and then onto the Outer Barrrer Reef.
From Dunk Island we offer scheduled visits to the unspoilt Beaver Reef for snorkelling safaris by our talented, friendly, and skilled crew. We are the comfortable way to discover the local unspoilt reef.
QuickCoast also visits neighbouring Bedarra where private charters are available by request in advance.Â
